Transportation

At EVCS, the school day begins at 8:00 amDismissal for students traveling home via car or foot begins at 3:05 pm. Dismissal for students taking the bus begins at 3:15 pm.

Parents, guardians and other caregivers can help drop-off and pick up run as smoothly as possible by following the protocols below:

To communicate how you will pick up your child at the end of each day…

All parents/guardians should indicate their child’s pick up status in School Dismissal Manager. Parents/Guardians can use School Dismissal Manager to indicate how their child will get home at the end of the day, and also to indicate absences, reasons for leaving school early, and reasons for a tardy arrival. Parents/Guardians can use School Dismissal Manager to set a default pick up status and can change their child’s pick up status as late as 2pm (10am on an early dismissal day). To make changes after 2pm, call the office or reach out to Estefany Hall (Days Park) or NaShomi Shaffer (Hertel).

If your child travels to and from school via car or foot…

Doors open to students who arrive via foot and car at 7:40 am. Arriving with your child by 7:50 am will allow them time to walk to their classroom, put away their belongings, and be ready for the start of the school day at 8:00 am. Students that are picked up or walk home are dismissed starting at 3:30 pm. Parents/guardians who need to pick up their child prior to 3:30 pm (e.g. for a doctor’s appointment) need to indicate this in School Dismissal Manager. We strongly encourage parents to pick-up no earlier than 3:05 pm. Not only do students miss out on instruction, but this increases congestion and delays the arrival and departure of our first-round buses.

To make our pick up and drop off via car as smooth as possible, cars should adhere to the directions provided by staff.

If your child travels to and from school via the bus…

  • Bus transportation to and from school is provided by the student’s district of residence.
  • EVCS will coordinate bus transportation for all qualifying students who live in the Buffalo School District. Parents/Guardians can pick up a form to start or change bus service at the main office or download the form here. If you are changing your bus route due to a change in address, please also complete the Change of Address Form linked here. If you need to change your child’s transportation within Buffalo, this can take as long as 2 weeks.
  • Families that live outside of the District of Buffalo are responsible for setting up their own bus transportation and for determining how their home district’s calendar will impact the availability of transportation.
  • On the bus, students are required to wear a seatbelt, remain in their seats, and adhere to the driver’s instructions.
  • Complete this Transportation Application if your student will be taking the bus for the first time, will be a new student at EVCS, or if there is a change in their transportation route.

If a bus is running late, please call the terminal directly and they will be able to tell you what time the bus will arrive at your stop. The bus terminal phone numbers are provided below:

SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER

EVCS uses School Dismissal Manager (SDM) along with Fast Lane to coordinate safe, efficient dismissal everyday.

Each new family will be required to set up an account with School Dismissal Manager before starting school. At the beginning of each school year, each family will be required to set their child’s default dismissal schedule before returning to school. This is for all families, even if you never plan to pick up your child and will only be using the bus.
