THIRD ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS:
Elmwood Village Charter School Days Park Hosts 8th Grade Music Competition to Celebrate National Music in Our Schools Month

(Buffalo, NY) – Elmwood Village Charter School (EVCS) is pleased to announce that our Days Park Campus will be hosting the Third Annual 8th Grade Battle of the Bands on March 19, 2026. The event is a celebration that fosters positive competition while emphasizing the importance of music education as part of our commemoration of National Music in Our Schools Month.

8th Grade Battle of the Bands is a capstone of the students’ hard work as part of EVCS musical instruction, which starts with the fundamentals in elementary school all the way to specializing in specific instruments in middle school. The Days Park 8th grade classes will be split into different bands composed of guitarists, drummers, vocalists, and more. The staff house band, Hall Pass Heroes, will perform between sets.

“It is an incredible honor to be hosting Battle of the Bands for our third year in a row,” said Theresa Schraufstetter, instrumental music teacher. “Watching our students grow throughout their time at EVCS to become confident performing musicians is a privilege. As we are celebrating our 20th anniversary, this event is part of our continued commitment to inspire students to excel at what they are passionate about.”

Battle of the Bands will take place on the school’s campus at 40 Days Park in Buffalo, NY and will start at 12:30 p.m. Attendance is exclusive to guardians and families of EVCS 8th graders, EVCS staff, and EVCS students. However, members of the media are also welcome to attend. Media are encouraged to RSVP by emailing cketter-franklin@elmwoodvillageschool.org.
