About our Organization

Mission

The Elmwood Village Charter Schools will provide a stimulating and engaging learning environment that recognizes student capability, fosters their connectedness to their immediate and broader communities, and offers them ways to contribute to school life. EVCS believes that all students can and will learn at high levels when provided with the right learning conditions.

History

EVCS is a grassroots charter school founded by parents and educators to give all students in Buffalo access to a high-quality education in a diverse, caring environment. It was founded in 2006 and has grown from 125 students to 900 students in grades K-8. EVCS was founded on the belief that all students can and will learn at high levels when provided with the right learning conditions.

In September 2012, Elmwood Village Charter Schools moved into the historic 40 Days Park. In September 2017, EVCS opened its second campus at 665 Hertel Avenue.
